Focus on the Family sees a positive change

And that positive change is the retirement of uber-conservative Jim Dobson (who once published a crazy fear-mongering letter predicting that in under Obama, gays would get bonuses for joining the military and pornography would be televised in prime time).

While I still don't agree with Focus' politics, the new leader, Jim Daly, sounds a lot more reasonable... and realistic. My favorite quote from the article: "I don't know what will happen with same-sex marriage, but I'm not going to be discouraged if we lose some of those battles," he said, noting that for "98 percent" of people, traditional marriage will remain relevant.

(And my little side reminder, folks: allowing same-sex couples to be legally married-- which has nothing to do with faith or religion-- doesn't harm or affect straight marriage in any way. Y'all straights can run off and get married all you want; us gays wish you nothing but the best and hope your marriage is strong. And when we get married, because we want to show our love for each other, receive equal rights under the law, create stronger family units and provide better homes for our kids, we hope you'll support us just the same.)
